Training course on human rights
The Association, in collaboration with the Education Service of the Municipality of Rovereto (Tn) and the Community of Vallagarina (Tn),
in order to give continuity to the educational projects on human rights of the RF Kennedy Foundation carried out in 2014-2015, it promoted and organized for the years 2016 and 2017 the path in question.
The Speak Truth To Power project of the Kennedy Foundation, a global initiative of the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights, through the experiences and stories of brave defenders from around the world,
aims to educate students and communities on human rights.
The project began with the book Speak Truth To Power by Kerry Kennedy (translated into six languages ​​and others on the way) and evolved into a touching and inspired theatrical performance by the famous writer and activist Ariel Dorfman.
The Italian version is published under the auspices of the Presidency of the Italian Republic, the Patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
TEACHING ASPECTS
The educational manual for the elementary school “Speak Truth To Power: Courage without limits, encourages governments, NGOs, the main foundations, as well as individuals to support human rights. The hope is that its effect is to demonstrate the ability of each individual to create changes.
The recognition of social justice is an important component in children's emotional development. The purpose of this project is to help them understand and respect the diversity with which they live together on a daily basis.
It is our hope that the project will help students create links between daily activities and human rights.
By reading the manual and the laboratories suggested in it, students will learn to recognize basic needs and what they mean to them and to the world around them.
First cycle of meetings - 4-6 January 2016
The training course began with two meetings led by the lawyer and trainer Bruno Balestra of the 'Sulleregole' Association: the first on the evolution of the concept of justice in history, as what seemed right in the past centuries today for the common conscience is simply aberrant, such as slavery, child labor etc .., in the second, with the language dear to Gherardo Colombo, the path of transformation from vertical to horizontal society was presented, highlighting how compliance with the rules is a condition fundamental for the recognition of human dignity, a recognition that is at the base of a horizontal society.
Then two pedagogical meetings were held, conducted by the pedagogist Alessandro Laghi, to delve into the real educational problems that today hinder this process of social maturation of young people, in order to become autonomous and participatory citizens in the horizontal society.
Second round of meetings - 29-31 August 2016
In the second three-day cycle Avv. Fiammetta Chiarini and Dr. Valentina Pagliai of the RF Kennedy Foundation presented the participants with educational projects and tools to develop an educational unit with the class. Three themes have been chosen: microcredit, child labor and the right to education, three examples that do not preclude the development of teaching units inspired by other themes.
Emanuele Reti, the director of the Association offered his artistic consultancy to give educational projects an artistic appearance, as it is known that artistic languages ​​addressing the whole person favor the emotional involvement of children.
The second cycle ended with the presentation of two initiatives as concrete answers to the violated rights.
Silvia Cesaro, representative for the Trentino of the EMERGENCY Association presented their work in Italy and Afghanistan through videos.
Helmut Bachmaier, the founder of the Ethicalbanking of Bolzano and a member of the Board of Directors of Mandacarù Onlus, addressed the issue of the responsible use of money, of investments and how every man in the use of his own money can, without knowing and wanting it, to favor or not to favor the violation of human rights.
Third cycle of meetings - 26-28 June 2017
The last cycle was dedicated totally dedicated to the presentation of teaching units.
The teachers who carried out the project with their pupils, received a certificate from the Kennedy Foundation which certifies the path taken and authorizes them to give continuity to the educational projects of the same in their activity as teachers, as ambassadors of the global educational project "Speak Truth to Power".
